Rodney McLeod is a distinguished athlete and dedicated community leader whose impact extends far beyond the field. A Super Bowl champion and 2022 Alan Page Community Award winner - the NFL Players Association’s top honor for community service - McLeod’s 13-year journey has been characterized by exceptional talent, unwavering perseverance, and a commitment to excellence.

Renowned for his strong leadership and mentorship as a 3x elected team captain, McLeod has garnered the respect of teammates, coaches, and fans alike. A lifelong philanthropist, his athletic achievements set the stage for McLeod’s off-the-field youth advocacy. Alongside his wife, Erika McLeod, the duo established the Change our Future Foundation in 2020 to empower underserved communities and youth through education, health, and wellness initiatives. In addition, McLeod has also launched the men’s streetwear brand, Back of House, reflecting his dedication to community success.

An unlikely standout rookie, McLeod launched his NFL career in 2012 as an undrafted free agent. Due to his relentless work ethic and resilience, he quickly stood out in several preseason games to earn his position as Safety on the St. Louis Rams roster. His successful tenure with the Rams showcased consistent growth and standout performances, paving the way for his following chapters including the Philadelphia Eagles where he earned a Super Bowl title in 2017, the Indianapolis Colts, and the Cleveland Browns. Over the course of McLeod’s storied NFL career, perseverance has been the unifying thread as he continues to play crucial roles on his teams despite various injuries and setbacks. By honing these skills, McLeod’s sheer grit and
determination has been further distinguished by the 2020 Walter Payton Man of the Year Nominee, 2021 Ed Block Courage Award Winner, and 2022 Steinberg Denicola Humanitarian Award Winner.

Away from the field, McLeod spent time on numerous prime television networks including CNN, NFL Total Access, NFL Network Good Morning Football, and ESPN, as a sports commentator. He hosted the popular Dawgs Only Podcast, the player-led podcast of the Cleveland Browns. Now Rodney McLeod is a color analyst for ESPN calling college games on Saturdays on ACC Network.

As an active community leader, McLeod is a proud board member of the Dematha Catholic High School and the Community College of Philadelphia.

A native of the DMV area, McLeod lives in Philadelphia with his wife Erika McLeod and daughter Zaia McLeod . Whether intercepting passes or championing social causes, his legacy is one of perseverance, leadership, and unwavering advocacy for change.
