With the AI Space Race heating up, here's my take on OpenAI's massive strategy shift with their recent release of ChatGPT 4.o "omni". 🔹 November '23, ChatGPT 4.0 is released for paid subscribers to ChatGPT "Plus". 🔹 Despite significant upgrades and access to creating custom GPTs, the majority of users continued to use ChatGPT 3.5, leading to slow adoption of 4.0. 🔹 The lifeblood of LLMs is usage and adoption, as widespread interaction is essential for these models to continuously learn, improve, and deliver accurate, relevant results. 🔹 Market position and perception began to slowly drift, creating a strategic business dilemma: how to maintain market leadership while monetizing the platform. The challenge was balancing the need for revenue with the imperative to keep users engaged and invested in the latest technology. 🔹 May '24, OpenAI shocks the world when ChatGPT 4.o "omni" is released for FREE enabling consumers to utilize all of the new text, voice, audio, vision and custom GPTs. 🔹 OpenAI’s focus is clear: drive adoption and maintain market leadership.
